Hi! I’m Sarah,
the girl behind Sarahtonin Sounds.
Sarahtonin Sounds started back in 2019, when I decided to take my love for music a little more seriously. What began as a space to share songs I loved slowly turned into something I wanted to explore further.
At the time, I was on a completely different path. I had plans to go to law school, but somewhere along the way, I realized that music was what I actually wanted to pursue. So, I changed direction and found my way into music supervision, where I get to combine my love for music with storytelling and the creative process.
Over the years, music has become a part of my work, but Sarahtonin Sounds has always been my personal space to share what I love. From playlists and new discoveries to writing about the music that sticks with me, this is where I get to explore my taste without any rules.
Growing up Egyptian, music was always a mix of different sounds and influences. Arabic music was a big part of my upbringing, but so was everything else I found myself drawn to. I grew up listening to music from different cultures, genres, and eras, and I think that curiosity has shaped the way I listen to music today.
My taste is a little all over the place, in the best way. I can go from an Arabic classic to hip-hop, soul, electronic, or something completely unexpected without thinking twice about it. I love discovering new sounds, revisiting old favorites, and finding connections between music that might seem completely unrelated.
I don’t think good music needs to fit into one genre, language, or era. If something catches my ear, I’m listening.
And that’s really what Sarahtonin Sounds is about: sharing the music I love, introducing people to sounds they might not have discovered otherwise, and hopefully helping someone find their next favorite song.
I’m finally giving this project the space to grow into something more, and I’m excited to see where it goes.
